Rules will follow those specified in the USA Hockey 2021-2025 Official Rules of Hockey with the following modifications:
- Games will consist of 3, 20-minute periods with a running clock.
- If games are tied after three periods, one 5-minute 3-on-3 sudden death overtime will take place, if time permits.
- If games are tied after overtime, each team will receive one point in the standings and the game will end in a tie. For the championship game a 3-shooter sudden death shootout will determine a winner.
- A combined team must start a game with a minimum of 5 players or the game will be a forfeit.
- Forfeiting teams earn 0 points for the game and the opposing teams earn 2 points.
- A game can proceed with members of the non-forfeiting team playing for the forfeiting team but points towards the standings will be awarded per Rule 2.1.
- Each team has one timeout per game (45 seconds).
- Fighting will result in a league suspension without refund of fees.
- No checking is permitted, and rough play will not be tolerated. Depending on the offense, you may be suspended permanently without refund of fees.
- Icing is permitted from behind the red line but not from behind your own blue line.
- Substitutions are permitted after icing.
- Only the first 3 goals that a player scores in regulation will count. Any goal scored after that will be treated as an icing.
- If a player with 3 goals in regulation scores in overtime, that goal will count.
- If a player receives 4 penalties in one game, that player will receive a game misconduct and a 1-game suspension.
- In the event that a team is missing players, and a sub(s) are needed, the league administration will find replacements. Subs will only be permitted if the league administration has determined a team will be under 8 available skaters for the game.
- Goalies are responsible for making the league administration aware of any games they cannot attend as soon as possible. League administration will find a replacement goalie for the game(s).
- Players will be required to sign-in on the score sheet before each game.
- In order to be eligible for playoff/championship games, a player must be rostered on a team and have attended a minimum of 3 games played throughout the season. If a player doesn’t meet the minimum game requirement, league administration will make the decision if the player can participate in playoffs/championship games or be refunded for the playoff/championship games they are ineligible for.
- Standings will be determined by points earned throughout the year. At the conclusion of each game, 2 game points will be awarded to the teams who won the game in regulation or overtime, 1 point will be awarded to each team that ties or loses in overtime, 0 points will be awarded to a team that forfeits or loses in regulation. Standing tiebreakers will be determined by league administration.
Based on the total registered number of individuals, rules pertaining to points awarded and championship games are subject to change.
